More about Dr. Zhang
Dr. Junli Zhang is Director of the Transgenic Gene-Targeting Core Facility at Gladstone, and a Staff Research Scientist at the Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease.
The Transgenic Gene-Targeting Core Facility generates mouse models with specific genetic modifications for researchers at Gladstone, the University of California, San Francisco, and other institutions. These models are vital for studying the underlying biological mechanisms of conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease and HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Zhang has more than 15 years of experience with transgenic research. Prior to joining Gladstone in 2010, she helped to establish—and served as director of—the Transgenic Core Facility at the Buck Institute for Age Research in Novato, California. She also helped to establish a transgenic facility at the Bayer Corporation in Berkeley, California, for which she received a special recognition award from Bayer in 2003.
A native of China, Dr. Zhang earned her MD from Nanjing Medical University.
